Websites provide an opportunity for your prospects and customers to learn about your company and it products and services. It takes a lot of marketing effort to get your visitors to your site, so you should maximize that opportunity to gain as much information as possible while they are on your site.
One method is to us an analytics product, like the Precision Analytics Group web analytics package. This product actual let you see real time who is on your site based on the IP address of the visitor. This works great for companies but not for consumers.
Companies usually have a static IP address (it never changes).This allows us the ability to track the IP address and get the address and phone number for most company visitors. We can run date range reports that will show us everyone that has been on your site and allows us to initiate follow up procedures. Consumer typically use high speed internet product that change the IP address each time they log on to the internet.
This does not allow us to track their visits. This is when a web form or opt-in form is a valuable tool in which to obtain any visitors email address and other information, to add us in the follow up procedure.

Most people are very protective of their email address and do not give it out unless they get something valuable in return. The trick is to find out what motivates your visitors into giving up their personal information. This can be many different

Web forms should be on EVERY page of your website that draws a high amount of traffic. Most website on have a web form on the ‘contact us’ page. This just does not cut it! Your web forms should be above the fold ( on the top half of the page, NO scrolling down to get to it). It should be prominently displayed and it should draw attention with promotion verbiage. Again it must promote something of value if you hope to get your visitors to give up their personal information.
